THINGS TO DO IN THE SURROUNDING AREA

We all love camping and the things we do during that time but sometimes you want a little more. There are many things you can do within a half hour drive or less from our beautiful river rentals. If you are an adventurer then there are also a few day trips you can take from sight seeing to river rafting! Here are a few of our favorite places we have found over the years while staying in beautiful North Georgia!

Tiger Drive in Theatre

Address: 2956 Old 441 S, Tiger, GA 30576

Phone:(706) 782-1611

This little drive in is great on a starry night to take the kids to an "old School" way of seeing movies but with the modern upgrades of sound and screen!

Goats on the Roof

3026 Hwy. 441 S.

Tiger GA 30576 US

Phone: (706) 782-2784

This is a whimsical little place that our daughter loves. You actually can feed the goats that live "on the roof" . Cool off with an ice cream and gem mining while visiting.

Southeastern Expeditions

7350 Lookout Mountain Scenic Hwy, Clayton, GA 30525

Phone:(800) 868-7238

If you love rafting then this is for you. This is located just a few miles from the resort in Clayton, GA and will take you on a rafting adventure of a lifetime down the Chatooga River. Not for the faint of heart . Children must be 12 years or older to participate.

Tuckaseegee Outfitters

4909 Hwy 74

Whittier NC 28789

phone:(828) 586-5050

This is about an hour away and an easy drive. This is great for a day trip and is a class I and II float. Perfect for kids or just a nice float down the river with some small rapids and a few with a bit of excitement. We take out 8 year old to this one. Its very cheap ( about $17.00 or less a person.) GREAT FAMILY FLOAT!

HELEN, GA

We have always loved Helen, GA from the time when I was a little girl camping with my grandparents and still til this day I have a place in my heart for Helen. Check their city site to see whats going on during the year. Helen  has a water park for the kids, putt putt golf, shops, restraunts, and much more. You have to see Helen at least once in your lifetime just to say you have been there.  (Betty's Country Store has the best hand cut meat around!)

CHEROKEE, NC/GATLINBURG, TN

This is a gorgeous day trip. It takes about  1 hr and 45 min to make it  to the other side of the mountain to Gatlinburg TN but make sure to take plenty of pictures as you cross over during this trip through the Great Smokey Mountains! On this side is Cherokee NC which is home to the indian village and the very good play called "Unto these Hills" . If you are a gambler then try your hand at the casino in Cherokee. If you are not a gambling man (or woman) then continue into and over the the mountain and come out on the other side in beautiful Gatlinburg TN. Home of "Ober Gatlinburg" and the "sky lift" and the Ripleys aquarium. Gatlinburg has much to offer and can be a day full of fiun for you and your family. Dollywood and other great attractions and shows are just past Gatlinburg into Pigeon Forge.

BEWARE-  There are tons of things to do on the main street of Gatlinburg but it is a bit expensive so watch your pocket books!

Tallulah Gorge State Park

Tallulah Gorge is right at your doorstep. Just 2 minutes up the road to your left out of the resort is the entrance to Tallulah Gorge. It is a beautiful walk and its a heck of a stair climb for those of you that want to dare to go to the bottom. Stop in and ask the friendly staff at the welcome center which trail is for you. Take your cameras as you will not want to miss those pictures!
